Fintern FAQs

Will you lend to people on a debt relief scheme such as an IVA or DRO? What about a Debt Management Plan?

About Fintern Loans
Debt relief schemes

We will consider lending to you if you have had a debt relief scheme in the past (e.g. bankruptcy, IVA, debt relief order, minimal asset process, etc), subject to an assessment of your current affordability and circumstances.

However, we will not lend to you if you are currently on an active debt relief scheme. In our opinion, providing more debt if you are already finding it difficult to meet your existing financial commitments is likely to make the situation worse rather than better.

If you are struggling with your finances, we would strongly advise that you seek independent, free, debt advice, such as from Citizens Advice, Step Change Debt Charity or National Debtline.

Debt management plans

We will consider your loan application if you are currently executing a debt management plan (i.e. a formally agreed plan which is aimed at repaying all of your debts in full), and you are up-to-date with your commitments under the plan. Our assessment of your loan application will be subject to our review of your affordability and circumstances. If from our assessment we feel it would be difficult for you to meet all of your existing financial commitments together with your repayments to Fintern, or if providing a loan would make your debt burden too high, we will not be able to lend.
